Hello everyone,

I'm looking to upgrade my GPU from a GTX 1050 Ti to either a GTX 1650 Super or a GTX 1660 Super.  My question is about my motherboard.  I don't know the exact model of my motherboard but I purchased a pre-build Dell XPS 8500 back in 2012.  Do I need to purchase a new motherboard to take full advantage of the new GPU?

Other Computer Specs:

-Win10 Pro

-i7-3770

-16GBs DDR3 1600MHz

Thanks everyone!

You don't need a new motherboard. Card will work just fine in that one.

Your concerns must be power delivery and CPU bottleneck.

Make sure you have appropriate power supply that has 6 or 8 pin PCE-E power connector.

Also, 3770 is fairly old CPU, so it might hold back 1660 super.

Main system: Ryzen 7 7800X3D / Asus TUF Gaming B650-Plus / G.Skill Trident Z5 NEO 32GB 6000Mhz / Zotac RTX 5090 SOLID OC/ x2 WD_BLACK NS770 2TBs/ Corsair HX1000i/ NZXT H5 Flow
