Elbow support (ergonomics of 21 Nov LTT video)

I am disappointed that Linus is in America but wouldn't get workstations with elbow support for his guests (LTT video 21 November 2019 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OX31kZbAXsA)

Elbows hanging off the desks is something i'd expect from a public library computer where nobody cares.

Surprisingly specific and random complaint but k.

Those look like normal competitive gaming chairs, given how people move and sit in them it seems like the lack of arm rests leads to a lot more range of movement, and being able to comfortably bring your arms back  without them clonking off the arm rests. I'd actually prefer one of those chairs tbh. Thankfully I'm tall enough that my office chair's arm rests don't get in the way anyways, and I don't ever use them when I have my hands on the mouse and keyboard.

Just an FYI, Linus is in Canada, not America.

I think they were referring to the specific video, which was shot in Santa Ana, California. I've even been to the location (it's right in my backyard).

As dalek mentioned, Linus is Canadian, so it would have been cost-prohibitive to send chairs from their location to Santa Ana to shoot the segment. Those chairs were supplied by that location. Last time I was at that location, if memory serves right, they had a mixture of arm-rest-equipped chairs, and arm-rest-lacking chairs. As for why the armrest-less chairs were used, the segment was probably shot on the upstairs platform, and armrests make it awkward to carry up and down the stairs (in my experience). Could be completely different reasons, though, too. If they had been specifically requested, though, they could have been accommodated.

I severely question the ergonomic value of armrests on a chair.

At the very least, some armrests are worse than no armrests at all. I'm still not sure whether there is an armrest good enough to justify its existence :P

I guess, but that makes the comment make even less sense. What would being in The USA have anything to do with armchairs? They have those in Canada, and in most (all?) of the industrialized world.

My guess is he simply shot with whatever assets were on-hand and easy to grab.

We actually don't have them at work anymore because they are dangerous. Probably some studies because its a government company I work for. So dangerous, unergonomic, bias towards people who can see their feet etc.
