Is Ryzen 4 worth waiting for?

Go to solution Solved by sphbecker,

Ryzen 4000 will like include USB4 support and performance improvements. I doubt it will make as big of a splash as 3000 did, but I could be wrong. One downside of Ryzen 4000 is it will likely be the last chip to use AM4, so it will be like buying the very end of a product line. If you buy a shiny new board for Ryzen 4000, then you can't upgrade its CPU after that.

You will never have the latest and greatest for long, just buy what you need when you need it. There will always be something down the road, even if you wait for it, you will miss out on whatever comes after that.

Ryzen 3000 is already really good, so if you want; you can upgrade now.

If you want to hold out a little bit longer, you could look into encoding on your GPU. If you have an Nvidia GPU, you can go into the OBS settings (assuming you use OBS) and set the encoder to Nvenc.

That could have decent quality too.

Hi, I'm using an old i5 4th Gen. I'd like to upgrade so I can stream. But I'm wondering if ryzen 4 is worth waiting for. Or if I should get something during Christmas(cyber monday/black Friday). Any helpful ideas are appreciated.

Get what you need, when you need it.
