Hello good people,

After 10years of using pc to work & game it is no longer powerful enough to do just about anything... Even photoshop crashes the system.

I know a thing or two about pc building but I lack experience and dont want to mess it up since we are building a high end system that (I hope) will last for at least few years, maybe more.

Location of buying parts: Poland

Upgrading old rig is NOT an option. definitely NOT an option

Budget: We do have a budget but it's rather big, if it comes to it. We'll probably save some money on storage/ram

Big importance on reliability, stability & SILENCE.

Here are the parts we are thinking so far:

  • RTX 2080 Ti 11gb
  • i9 9900k (or i9 9900ks but not sure how big of a performance boost we get for $)
  • 32-64gb of ram
  • 1tb nvme ssd
  • as much reliable hdd storage as possible (right now we have 2tb and they are full, im considering external hdd to store all that and maybe just going for 2tb again)
  • Air Cooling all the way, I think it is more reliable in the long run
  • Monitor: around 1440p(can be 4k but im guessing price would jump very high without significant benefit) 144hz upto 4ms latency & as high color accuracy as humanly possible 99%+ (for reference pics & such, needs to have accurate colors)

Correct me if I am wrong but I think other parts are situational

As for the case, I'll choose it myself when I know all the parts.

Tomorrow there's a huge sale in Poland so we will most likely grab majority of parts then.

If there's any questions I can answer, feel free to ask.

Thank you very much to anyone who is willing to help out with this build. We have been waiting for a very long time to do this.. We are just very excited for the new system, never had something this beefy before :)

If budget is sufficiently high consider a 2TB or 4TB ssd instead of hdd.

I doubt that the added multi-threaded performance of the KS cpu will make a noticeable difference.

You will need a high-end cup cooler which means that small sexy cases will not work. Dark Rock Pro 4 and NH-D15 are two that should be considered.

Case choice directly affects system noise levels. Consider cases specifically designed for quiet operation. They can be a bit more expensive but are generally worth the investment.

PSU is an important choice. You will want around 750W. Corsair RMX (not the same as RM) and Seasonic Prime are good models. There are other good models. Just remember that the psu affects system stability and component lifetime. It makes good sense to invest in a good unit.

80+ ratings certify electrical efficiency. Not quality.

Update:
I am going on youtube videos, reviews, articles and such as source of my knowledge how to build this monstrosity.

If anyone could point out any potential problems or if i should save some costs or switch some parts for more reliable ones I would greatly appreciate it.

Literally 0 experience in building my own system. So after spending 3 days researching this is what I have so far.

Part List: (Links are in a Polish store, I use chrome auto translate to navigate it)

Motherboard: Gigabyte Z390 AORUS MASTER

CPU: Intel Core i9-9900KS

CPU Cooling: be quiet! Dark Rock Pro 4 120/135mm

Thermal Paste: Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut 11g

GPU: EVGA GeForce RTX 2080 Ti FTW3 ULTRA GAMING 11GB GDDR6 (Initially I wanted to go with Zotac because of price/performance but after reading reviews, I decided Id rather not gamble on my card "spontaneously combusting" and invest extra $ to get EVGA)

PSU: Seasonic Prime Ultra 1000W 80 Plus Titanium  (purely for protection, reliability etc. I know its a bit too powerful for the system I have here)

NVME: Samsung 1TB M.2 PCIe NVMe 970 EVO Plus (This drive will hold windows, software, a couple of demanding games)

OPTANE NVME: Intel 16GB M.2 PCIe NVMe Optane (I'm not sure how useful Optane drive will be.. Im mainly going to drawn in Photoshop with occasional video edits and such. Of course it would be a crime not to game on this thing during my leisure time :) )

HDD: WD RED 4TB IntelliPower 64MB (This will be purely longer term storage solution used for work, family photos and will act as a backup in case 970 Evo will fill up. I am also onsidering bumping this up to 8TB, I'm just not sure if its worth it at this point, or should I invest into some other storage solution later down the line)

RAM: G.SKILL 16GB 3600MHz Trident Z CL16 (2x8GB) (I'm getting 32gb of ram, I haven't settled for specific ones, but these specs seem pretty good)

Case: NZXT H710i White (mainly because I am running rather low on my budget, if you have slick, aesthetic alternatives, I would greatly appreciate it.. I can push my budget a tiny bit more if the case is really worth it)

Extra Fans: be quiet! SilentWings 3 140mm PWM (I'm getting 3 of these to put on top of the case, since the case comes with 3 fans on the front and 1 on the back. Im thinking I'll install mine at the top for good airflow throughout the case)

So I checked out the PSUs you suggested and as I posted above, went with Seasonic Prime, seems very reliable. Dark Rock pro4 for cpu cooling (didnt like nhd15 looks that compared to dark rock)

I figured KS is going to help atleast a little bit on video renders and maybe bump up some fps in games. Difference in price between K and KS is only 50$, i figured might as well.

For storage I opted for nvme as my daily driver and hdd for videos, photos, general storage space.

Im still puzzled about the case, the one I got here is only because it looks decent and didnt have to sell my kidney to include in this build
