Hi guys,

Im currently using a i5 6500 and a gtx 1050ti and looking to upgrade to a 1660 for better frames but the only issue is bottlenecking. I play games like fortnite and csgo but looking to play at 144 frames at all times. Do you think it is a good idea upgrading to a 1660 or sticking with my 1050ti. Is it too much of a bottlneck to see an increase in performance?

Assuming that you meant to say "144 fps at all times" things look pretty bad for you. According to this video from HUB fortnite runs into a CPU bottleneck at about 130 fps (concerning the 1% lows) even with a 9900K at 1080p low.

However if you wanna play at an average of 144 fps a 1050Ti should do the job when using competetive settings.

Whether or not your GPU bottlenecks your CPU depends on your settings but in general we can say that your computer's performance becomes increasingly GPU dependend the more you crank up your graphics settings.

All in all I'd say that an i5 6500 should have enough horsepower for gaming with a GTX 1660 but you really should consider buying a GTX 1660S instead since it performs significantly better than a normal 1660 at about the same price.

not significantly. about 10 fps or a bit more in some titles. but indeed always go for that

as for the 1660. it about performs at the same pace as the 1070 i had the 1070 does beat it though. I used to have it paired with the same cpu. You should be okay in that department. and you can always upgrade your cpu a little later on the lines.

Given that this corresponds to a 10% performance uplift, I wouldn't call it insignificant - especially when considering today's performance-increase rate and the MSRP raise of only $10.

But then again "significant" does indeed sound a little too strong for that kind of progress.

significant is like 30 fps or the difference between the 1070 and the 2070 super that i have now which is even in some tripple a titles 50 fps. xd

10% is significant.  people go out and buy new $500+  GPUs for 10% performance increase.

It's not huge, but still significant.

Maybe but at  lower texture settings considering it comes with 2GB less VRAM.

8 is minimum for certain AAA titles with all features anyways,  for example

So yeah,  a 1070 is better,  of course it is,  it's also more expensive!
