I'm willing to spend whatever as long as it's not more than 3k$. At the least I require a:

- 1080p display (anything else is superfluous in my experience)

- 60hz display (same thing)

- decent battery with ≥ 3 hours of standard web-browsing support

- whatever cpu&gpu configuration is necessary to run any game on the market right now on medium -> high settings, 1080p ≥30fps (I mostly play games like total war, call of duty, star wars battlefront 2 (2017), dark souls, etc), if this is feasible

- if I can save money by excluding an SSD (again, superfluous), sacrificing the portability (heavy is fine), or disregarding ascetics by it being chunky or whatever, that would be great. I also don't really care about temperature control, as long as it doesn't involve an existential threat for the laptop in basic use lol, or noisiness, as I have pretty great noise cancelling headphones

-can run programs like python, R, and Excel at a desktop level, as my job requires it

Forgive the probable amateurish understanding of computers this post has indicated. I really don't have time to dedicate extensive research into this subject. If you can give me a link and a decent, paragraph-level explanation, I would be grateful. Thanks gamers?

you're gonna have to tone down the battery life because with a gaming grade laptop it just ain't happening - even on my coursework laptop i get about 5-6 hours at absolute max and that's just being used for web browsing and text editing with nothing but an r3 2200u

If that's the state of laptops (again, I'm ignorant) , I'm fine with reducing that qualification down to 4-6 hours.

whilst gaming that's probably not going to happen.

especially since you will also have a gpu so even if the usage is minimal i still belive it uses the battery and decreases the battery%

Anything i've written between the * and * is not meant to be taken seriously.

keep in mind that helping with problems is hard if you aren't specific and detailed.

i'm also not a professional, (yet) so make sure to personally verify important information as i could be wrong.

Again, that's fine. I reduced the threshold.
