Hello there,

I am new on this forum since I am looking to build a new computer during the Christmas. My computer is already 5 years old so I am really happy to finally upgrade it and my budget is quite okay, I am willing to spend around 1200-1500 euro for all components. The first problem I stumble on already is the CPU I choose, always people used to say "intel is better" but I think this is irrelevant nowadays, especially with the new Ryzen 3rd gen.

I was thinking to get a Ryzen 5 3600X or a Intel i5 9600K, what is a better choice?

Or could I better spend a bit more money and get the Ryzen 7 3700X or something?

As a graphic card I was looking to get the RTX 5700XT or the RTX 2060 Super, but here the same question remains, what is a better choice? or any better alternatives?

I look forward hearing from you all, thank you in advance.

i5 9600k has +- 5% better gaming performance 6cores 7 thread

Ryzen 5 3600x has better rendering, editing and  compressing 6 cores 12 threads, you should go with ryzen sice it has 6 more threads.

Radeon 5700 XT would be your choice since its on par with 2070 super.,

5700 xt is the faster of the two, but keep in mind that you must not buy the reference design.

if you are doing streaming, the Nvenc encoder in the 2060s is very much worth it.

Thank you all for your replies, the computer will be for gaming.

with all components I mean just the tower, I already got a new monitor and peripherals.

and I live in the Netherlands.

Here you go :)

You can save some money by removing the CPU cooler if you don't overclock since there is one with the CPU.

You can replace the 2070S by the 5700XT Sapphire Nitro+ or Power Color Red Devil (get the cheaper one as they are both good options).

Thank you very much! That is a great setup.

I think I will be going for the 5700XT, maybe even better compatibility with the AMD CPU (PCI 4.0) or that does not really matter?

PCI 4.0 is for some 4th gen NVMe SSD so no worries. Nvidia is compatible with Intel and AMD, AMD Radeon is compatible with Intel and AMD ;)
