ThunderboltEX 3 & Apple thunderbolt display

Hi I have the following setup:

- Asus Z170-A

- Asus ThunderboltEX 3 (drivers installed)

- Apple thunderbolt 3 to thunderbolt 2 adapter

- Apple thunderbolt display

- Windows 10 1903 (up to date)

(- no dGPU, only iGPU)

 

The USB port on the ThunderbotEX 3 is left unused

 

I experience the following issues:

- hub on the monitor doesn't work (Ethernet port, USB ports, nothing)

- brightness cannot be adjusted (no setting/slider/anything in Windows to be found. This is very strange)

 

How can I have the USB and Ethernet ports on the monitor work?

How should I adjust brightness?
