Hey everyone...hoping someone could help me out.

I'm having an issue arise with my one 980Ti Hybrid card. All of a sudden out of the blue, the card is running extremely hot for what it was typically running. The card when running in a game is usually anywhere from 40-65C. With the highest being maybe 70 in a more graphically intense game. Though now, in any game I play the temps are reaching 80C+. Almost hitting 90C even and I'm not sure why this is happening all of a sudden. I was hoping you could help me out! I even took off my Overclock I had, the only thing with the card now is the power limit at 110%.

The fans appear to be running fine as well, so I can't figure out what the issue is.If you need any additional info, please do let me know.

My first guess would be that your thermal paste/pad in the GPU went bad. Maybe it dried out and/or cracked and now the heat transfer is not good anymore.

Hmm..yeah I'm not sure. The weird thing is that idle seems to be fine so far, being around 35-40C. Is that possible to fix for an inexperienced person..lol? I'm worried that it's going to die on me.

Dead pump perhaps?

I'm not sure, is there a way to tell? Idle temps are still around 30-40. Would idle be hotter if it was a pump issue? I'm just super worried because I can't afford a new gpu right now if it really is on the way out.

The only real way to tell is to hear if the pump is running or not... and this is way harder with a GPU.

Unplug the fans and touch the tubes, if you can feel something moving then it's working, if one of the tubes is hot but the other isn't then the pump is stuck

Yes, it seems like there is movement in the tubes with the fans off.

Its way easier then you think and basically no risk if you are careful rather then forceful. See this thread, included with a video ->

With your model: Part Number: 06G-P4-1996-KR seems you have 3 year warranty.. Depending when you bought the card, I would just RMA it... As it seems you have two of these cards, that shouldn't be a issue of downtime either.

Unfortunately the warranty is expired. I've already submitted a ticket to EVGA, but they just told me to check a couple things, but closed the ticket. So I have to open a new one now and see if anything can be done. Thanks though!

That's unfortunate :(
