I've been saving some money for a new GPU and was wondering if i could get some thoughts.

Should I buy a 2070 (non-super) on eBay for ~350, or should I wait until Computex 2020 and the release of the RTX 3080.

P.S. I currently game with a 1060 6gb on a 1440p 144hz monitor

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

If you want to get the most out of your screen then the 2070 is justified as it will be a nice boost from the GTX 1060.

Waiting a whole year for the next release does not sound like a fun thing to do... but it also depends if you're satisfied with the 1060 or not, if you feel like waiting is not an issue then sure why not? Big Navi is likely to be very interesting too.

Its a bit of a wait for sure, but i don't have definite performance or price numbers for the 30 series GPUs which is why im asking if its worth the wait

my 1060 pushes ~130 in most games with med-high settings, but in some games had to turn down AA and scale to 90% res to hit 144 at all. Didn't think of going to AMD because i was going for a mid (or if i wait) high tier GPU and AMD just hasn't been delivering

What CPU and memory do you have? Refresh rate is equally depending on these parts, it gets to a point you can decrease graphical quality all you want it still won't increase fps if your bottleneck is elsewhere.

I am kind of having the same issues myself however the latest leaks are saying that next gen Nvidia cards now might not be out to 3rd Quarter 2020 and there just isn't much info about AMD's supposed high end solutions rolling around on the next which makes me suspect it might be quite some time before they show up as well.  That being said, 9-12 months is an awfully long time to wait especially since we have no idea what the price or performance of these new cards might look like.

i have never understood the point to these threads since i first built a PC back in 2008. People always speculating on whats coming and if they should wait, etc etc. Basically its simple, every new gen will be an improvement over the previous (for the most part).

IF you are happy with the detail settings and frames... keep what you have.

IF you want higher frames/settings then the super series is awesome and on 1440p will definitely help push better frame rates.

Doesn't matter about the 3000 series because there is too much time between now and then and if your not satisfied, upgrade now and enjoy yourself. Just far too many repetitive "should i wait" threads on every site. I understand if you dont have the money to upgrade often and you want to make the most informed decision, but tech always updates so quickly, that you just have to buy quality now, and enjoy the ride. /end rant.. lol
