Hello,

I have ASUS H87-PRO and am trying to boot with i7-4790.

Yea,

I surely updated the bios with the most recent one (2104), but never boots up.

It works fine with i5-4570 but NO luck with i7-4790.

ASUS surely says this board is surely compatible with i7-4790 with bios version  newer than 1105.

Never worked out.

Very same case happens with ASUS H87-PLUS.

Would somebody help me what is wrong here updating the BIOS?

Thanks in avance.

OS: Windows 10 PRO (64bit)

CPU: i7-4790

Motherboard: ASUS H87-PRO (BIOS Ver:2104)

RAM: 4x 2Gb PC3-10600U

I think ASUS does NOT put CPU micro-code for i7-4790 to the BIOS file.

Otherwise something is very wrong with BIOS updater file.

Tested the i7-4790 with H97 PRO, and verified working flawlessly.

Very much disappointing to ASUS service..

Oh I can fix this one! I've been through this very same thing and it took me MONTHS to figure out so now you don't have to.

It's an issue with the BIOS update utility not actually applying the update, tldr use the Windows based update utility.
