Best Budget UW 1440p

Statik

Hey guys, so this Black Friday I’m going all out with a 3700x and 2080S build. As of right now with an MSI MAG341CQ I’m at my budget of $3000CAD total.

Has anyone had any experience with my monitor? It’s probably the one I’m going to get, due to the amazing price for quality, but is there any others that would be recommended?

Gaming Build:

CPU: Ryzen 7 3800x   |  GPU: Asus ROG STRIX 2080 SUPER Advanced (2115Mhz Core | 9251Mhz Memory) |  Motherboard: Asus X570 TUF GAMING-PLUS  |  RAM: G.Skill Ripjaws DDR4 3600MHz 16GB  |  PSU: Corsair RM850x  |  Storage: 1TB ADATA XPG SX8200 Pro, 250GB Samsung 840 Evo, 500GB Samsung 840 Evo  |  Cooler: Corsair H115i Pro XT  |  Case: Lian Li PC-O11

I personally like the design of the LG monitors, but they perform the same. Worth checking out though

I was kinda hoping for a little more than that. None of the LG models look great except for the 34GK950F-b, except it’s about twice the price of the MAG341Cq

Looking through PCPP the available 1440p ultrawides available in Canada ecommerce your two best alternatives are:

https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/product/pDsmP6/msi-optix-mag341cq-340-3440x1440-100hz-monitor-optix-mag341cq

https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/product/6htKHx/monoprice-138035-350-3440x1440-120-hz-monitor-138035

I'd personally go with the monoprice because it uses a Samsung panel equal to my Viotek, it's great VA close to IPS but without IPS Glow I really like it and don't think IPS is worth the cost.

That 8ms response time is kind of brutal....and twice what it should be for a VA panel.

Honestly, I'd do what @Princess Luna suggests and either go with the Monoprice, or import one of the Vioteks from the US.

There's also loads of reasonably priced ultrawide monitors on eBay.

Awesome, thanks for the input. The only thing that concerns me is the quality of the build/lifespan with the Monoprice. I've never really had experience with their products, and until now I didn't even know they made panels. Can you speak at all for their customer service and build quality? I also can hardly find any reviews on the product itself.

Yeah that's the one side I didn't like. I listed my only concerns for the Monoprice above this quote, and the only thing holding me back from Ebay is buying used tech online really makes me uneasy, and I MUCH prefer to buy new.

As well, since I'm shopping on BF/CM, what are some good panels that are over my budget I should keep my eye on? If I'm looking around $600, but a $1,000 or $1,200 panel goes on for $800 kinda thing I'll probably just pull the trigger on that if it's really worth it.

EDIT: Or if in general adding a few hundred to my budget will make a big difference in monitor choice I'm game.

Monoprice doesn't make the panels, they use what I imagine is the AU Optronics panel; same as everyone else.

Not everything on eBay is used, there's loads of brand new stuff on there, including stuff from retailers; however, even if it is used, you're covered with Paypal.

The Alienware one is pretty good, but I'm not sure how cheap that'll go. The PG348Q is currently $799, $400 off at Memory Express. If you have one close to you, they do n store financing. There really isn't much in the bargain basement price of $600 for an UW monitor. The Viotek is probably one of your best bets, tbh.

Sorry I didn’t mean they made the actual panel themself, I meant like they make the monitor.

and thank you! That deal looks great! I haven’t done much looking into on that monitor, but it looks significantly better than anything at the $600 price point.

I don’t need to finance anything, as money isn’t really an issue, I just want to stick to a budget for personal reasons lol. Would you recommend I just pull the trigger on that versus waiting on Black Friday sales?

EDIT: Apparently ME charges 50 fucking dollars for delivery. The only other option would be get it from best buy (same sale), but pay 15% tax, and have it come out to about $960CAD
