Hello there!

So I've been working on my first gaming PC build lately and I'm not sure what I could change. I don't know a lot about PC parts, so I've come to ask for ratings and suggestions. Some basic info:

1. Budget & Location

I live in Germany and I'm looking to spend somewhere between 1300 to 1400€ (I'm going to order at black friday/cyber monday for maximum performance per euro)

2. Aim

The rig should be able to run newer games on high settings, if possible on a WQHD monitor as well as run a browser on another FHD monitor. Besides that it should be able to run basic office apps like Word (which I would guess isn't really too much of a problem). I do want to play some CPU intensive games though, like Arma III or Squad.

3. Monitors

As I already mentioned, I'd like to run two monitors and stay at two if possible. They're 60FPS 1080p ones, but I might get one 1080p and one 1440p instead (the 1440p one for games, the 1080p one for browsing)

5. Why are you upgrading?

It's kinda obvious, I'm currently running a GTX 950 and an AMD FX-6300 Six Core Processor along with DDR3 RAM. It seems to progressively get slower and slower as the 2TB hard drive fills to a point where I get something about 45FPS on minecraft. I had to unmount the sidepanel so it doesn't crash from lacking thermal performance. Windows is getting a bit sad with some graphics glitching and just booting up the PC and getting logged in with discord autostarting can take from anywhere from 5 up to 15 minutes.

At least I've got a Windows license, mouse, keyboard and headset already.

Here's my latest pcpartpicker config:

I'm especially unsure about two things: Number one is whether I should get the case with a tinted or normal tempered glass side panel, and number two is whether or not the price of a WQHD monitor with a proper reaction time will drop in price enough so I can afford it.

Rate my build and give suggestions! Thank you in advance!

Those aren't really CPU limited, more just horribly unoptimized/unfinished. Like every CPU is going to struggle with them, but there may be some fixes.

Why a 2TB SSD?

The RX 5700/XT is an equal/faster GPU for the same price

Just get an MSI B450 board with USB bios flashing, this one should have the updated bios out of the box though.

3600mhz CL16 RAM would be nice but it's like +$40 EUR. Would just go for like Corsair/G.skill in general anyways though.

Should spend a bit less on the case and in other places

Base PC is only 900 EUR here

Should for sure get a 1080p 144hz or even 240hz display

I would go more extreme on the secondary display, and get a 4K one, could even just be a decent 4K TV.

I edit my posts a lot, Twitter is @LordStreetguru just don't ask PC questions there mostly...

Spoiler

What is your budget/country for your new PC?

what monitor resolution/refresh rate?

What games or other software do you need to run?

Hello,

Better overall for the same price.

It's just darker with a tint so it's more like do you prefer it darker or not ?

https://de.pcpartpicker.com/product/pDsmP6/msi-optix-mag341cq-340-3440x1440-100hz-monitor-optix-mag341cq 500€, the prices will drop at some point when 1440p will replace 1080p but I can't predict the future of when that'll happen :P

Hey there,

Thanks a lot for the reply! I like what you did here, but I have a few questions:

What was wrong with the power supply I picked? It's about 20€ cheaper, the HDD you picked is 60€ and the SSD is 120€, all of that put together I'd only be 20€ away from the 2TB SSD I had before. (Or, in theory, only 40€ away from 2 of the Sabrent Rocket 1 TB M.2-2280 NVME Solid State Drive you put in and their 3450r/3000w goodness [if I had 2 M.2 slots, of course]!)

Secondly, is the B450 motherboard going to work out of the box with the Ryzen 5 3600? I don't have another CPU I can put in there to update the bios or something.

Thirdly, will the B450 chipset impair the performance of the CPU?

I made up my mind with the case by the way. I'm gonna go for the clear tempered glass because it works best with indirect lighting. A friend of mine coded an awesome programme that controls LEDs by reading the CPU utilisation and changing the colours accordingly anywhere from blue to red, so I plan on putting in some LED strips myself.

Greetings,

L.F.

Your PSU is not bad but it's more oriented for entry level gaming build.

Same reason for the SSD, it's an entry level one, the sabrent is better (speed, performance and endurance) and paired with a 2TB HDD it should be enough (main game + W10 on the SSD and storage + secondary games on the HDD). You can also pick 2 1TB Sabrent but it'll cost more with less space too.

I picked the MAX version and they are Zen 2 ready out of the box, it's as good as the x570 Gaming X for less so no performance lost also note that the 3600 doesn't overclock that much anyway.

I see! How does the orientation manifest in the PSU? It's obvious with the SSD, but what are the differences between an entry level and more expensive PSUs?

Everything you need to know is in this topic :P

Also the Corsair have a 7 years warranty and the Be quiet only 3.
