There is an andriod x86 variant that will work on most desktop hardware, but id use anouther linux distro personally if you want linux on your desktop, and androd isn't a great desktop os.

Drivers is another problem, because Android won't include drivers for your GPU, Wi-Fi, NIC etc. out of the box. It is running on a modified Linux kernel, which isn't going to include stuff a mobile phone is never going to need. There is the Android-x86 project, which is working on porting Android to x86, you can read more on their page where they're at.

 

So yeah, hardware support is a big issue. And, as @Electronics Wizardy said, it's not really made for desktop, and neither are the apps that run on it. You're probably better of using a desktop variant of Linux.

Android 10 has some improvements to help with Desktop use but yeah, pretty much this.

 

It exists but its terrible.
