What makes the difference between a 60hz monitor and a 144hz monitor Manufacturing wise

So there are 60, 144hz, etc. monitors, aside from cable bandwidth what makes them different physically? Is it the module inside that has to be upgraded? Different lcd types to make the pixel respond fast enough, besides branding what makes monitors able to have different refresh rates?

The panel is just higher performance, everything capable of refreshing way more often.

so can you overclock a 240 hz monitor to 260 hz let's say if the monitor is capable?

Yes, as long as the display signal can handle that

so is the reason I can't overclock my ips monitor past 73 hz is because the bandwidth is limited?

Cant say for certain what display signal and revision you're using, but usually it's because the monitor just isnt good enough
