Please Help! External monitor getting "No Signal"

So, this has been a very frustrating process of trying to get this new monitor to work. I just purchased the ASUS VG248VG basic 24 inch 1080p 144hz monitor. I have an MSI GL63 9SEK laptop which supports MSI Matrix DIsplay. As of now I have one external monitor connected via HDMI out on laptop and its running at 60hz and it is a ASDUS VG245 monitor. I have the new ASUS monitor hooked up via mDP out to DP into the monitor. I am receiving no signal upon powering on the montir via DP but if I plug in an HDMI cord from my laptop it runs just fine but at 60hz since that is what the HDMI ports supports off laptop. I've literally tried everything so far. Powering on powering off, updating drivers, trying adapters, using different display port cables. And no luck. If anyone has any magic I can preform, please let me know. Thanks!

you might just have a faulty port man, but try useing just the one monitor on the hdmi, other times it can be the laptop not letting you do it for example I have to use a hot key on ay alienware to allow several monitors. another thing that you can do is go to you nvidia desktop maneger and see if it recognises that the display is there if not then it should just be a bad port if it does say that it is there then it is quite straight forward from there. best of luck man

Okay so update! After playing around with everything and getting very frustrated I tried some last resorts. I plugged the monitor into my roommates desktop to try and rule out the monitor being bad. Didnt work with either display port or hdmi. So I was worried. Then, I tried hooking the monitor up to my girlfriends MacBook Pro which also has a mini display port and IT WORKED! So, that left my laptop being the odd man out. So, I immediately hooked the monitor back up to my laptop and no kidding it worked. No clue how or what it did. But it is working seamlessly now... Super happy I could get it to work being that I have no clue what I did but very happy moment. Thanks for the help!
