Sidetone with separate mic and headphones

First of all, apologies for anything I might mess up on, I'm very new not only to higher end audio setups, but to the forum in general as well.

So I plan on getting a pair of good headphones with an amp and dac, along with a separate microphone. My issue is that I REALLY want to have a proper sidetone from the microphone into the headphones, and I'm pretty sure that without using windows' "Listen to this device" feature, I would need some sort of mixer to get that. My question is what would a setup like this look like? Would I need to connect a DAC to my pc, the mixer to the DAC, and then the microphone, amp and headphones to the mixer? Or is it more complicated than that? I don't have any specifics for gear other than the microphone, which'll be the Audio-Technica AT2005USB, so I'm sorry if that's an issue. If anyone has suggestions as to what equipment I should use to get to a solution like this, that would also be very appreciated. Other than that, if you guys need any more information, just let me know.

Ok so I recently found the Mackie Big KNOB Studio, which apparently does a great job of being a DAC, an amp, and a mixer. Along with the akg k7xxs I now want to get, it should do me very well. So I may have just answered my own question with that.
