240h monitor for 210$ Micro Center?

redbread123

https://www.microcenter.com/product/510224/acer-kg251q-245-full-hd-240hz-hdmi-dp-freesync-led-gaming-monitor So I found this monitor acer kg251q Dbmiipx what not, and I can barely find any decent reviews and it's not available on amazon or newegg. Does anyone have this monitor and how is the input lag, colors, pixel response. It's seems decent from the one or two videos I could find they said it's decent but didn't talk about ghosting, input lag, or colors. I saw a blurbusters forum thread saying it has bad input lag but it was done by hand. If any one knows anything about this monitor please let me know it seems like a good deal for 240hz

You don't buy a monitor like this for decent colors.

I'd wait for Black Friday.

I don’t have it but it’s a TN panel so the colors won’t be great. Why not go with a 144hz IPS or VA monitor? Do you competitively play twitch shooters?

Like I mean are they good for a TN panel, there are some TNs with decent colors, like are they really shitty or are they decent for a TN

Because my gpu will be overkill for 1080p 144hz monitor, and VA has slow pixel response time I don't want blurring or ghosting.

Yes but those are generally significantly more than something like this, and aren't 240hz panels.

Well is this specific one good for comp games, it's 240hz and a lot of the reviews on micro center are good, so should I pull the trigger, I am just wondering what the input lag is like.

So I ordered it and it's being shipped, apparently it's only available on UK amazon, and most of the yt reviews are in some random language, in the uk amazon the reviews are good so when it arrives by this friday I'll let you guys know if this is legititmately a decent 240hz monitor, can anyone let me know when it was released so I can know what generation panel it's using.

Edit: I'm in US I got it from microcenter here's the link https://www.microcenter.com/product/510224/acer-kg251q-245-full-hd-240hz-hdmi-dp-freesync-led-gaming-monitor

240Hz are fairly new so it will likely not be older than 1 year.

Those are also likely TN panels with FreeSync. The price seems about right actually...

I've seen the Dell/Alienware one in my country for €280 which is with 20% tax included so its about right in that comparison.

I'm talking about USD, well lowest I saw the aw2518hf by amazon themselves 279$ USD, anyways I'll wait until it arrives and if this truly is a good deal everyone on this website should know about it.

I am aware of the currency.

The pricing in my country for PC parts is most of the time $ = € and € + 20% = price. And if something is cheap in US then it gets cheap here as well in about a month.

I'm just trying to compare. In that context the pricing makes sense to me.

Got mine from there for 220. Acer released another model that mc sold for 189.

Its decent for gaming but clarity and color are lacking. But it comes down to the game. Isn’t anywhere close to the 1440 I have but I’ll still take 1080p over it with such a high refresh rate.

Main RIg Corsair Air 540, I7 9900k, ASUS ROG Maximus XI Hero, G.Skill Ripjaws 3600 32GB, 3090FE, EVGA 1000G5, Acer Nitro XZ3 2560 x 1440@240hz

Can you link the 189$ model wtf. there is definitely something up no way can a 240hz monitor be that cheap wtf?? Also, I heard engineering an lcd panel to reach 240hz is really complicated, wouldn't that drive up the price, or is it manufacturing it still not that expensive?

hard to find good reviews on that monitor. I havnt seen one properly tested. being a 'cheap' 240hz monitor it may well be the case that the panel technically cant handle 240hz, making it 240hz in frequency but not in pixel speed.

For 240hz u need less than 4.16ms maximum pixel response, and idealy u want pixel speed to be below 50% of the frame time, which for 240hz would result in around a 2ms ideal target. High end TN panels have a hard enough time achieving this, cheapo models however....... it may technically run and refresh at 240hz but the motion clarity may well be worse than a higher end 144hz monitor with transition speeds fast enough to handle 144hz.

This ofc is an educated guess at the moment as i cant find any test result for this specific monitor.

Personally i wouldnt touch a monitor that hasnt been tested and reviewed thoroughly, like those reviewed by rtings.com and tftcentral.co.uk

It may not even be another model. The box changed so I just assumed. It was prolly just a sale.

It’s defiantly cheap but it’s a completely difference.

Actually hated it and stopped using it because it felt so different and threw my game off. Wasn’t used to something being so smooth but took some time to adapt and it was back to precise aiming and upsetting bad players.

If you still have it, can you go testufo.com and track it with your camera or phone and show me the pixel response time if there is any blur. I don't care about colors but if the pixel response time is good than I'll be glad

Really need to sell my 1950X so I can hop on the 240hz train when Ryzen 4000 drops.

I edit my posts a lot, Twitter is @LordStreetguru just don't ask PC questions there mostly...

Spoiler

What is your budget/country for your new PC?

what monitor resolution/refresh rate?

What games or other software do you need to run?

Honestly I got it because 27" is too big, and if it's small then I'll just move it closer to me smh, and 1080p is easy to run at higher frames so yeah it's great.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B
