Samsung Galaxy Watch 4G question.

Hi all,

I was looking at getting a phone since I definitely need to get one now. i've had them before but never end up using them at all,

But a noticed this SmartWatch in a store and it seems much better for me personally.

The problem arises since i've never really gotten into phones before I'm not entirely sure how their plans and whatnot work.

This watch can connect to wifi and work without a phone nearby, I know that.

I just can't figure out if I can use it without owning a phone at all.

I still need my own phone number, and the ability to receive calls, But i'd much prefer to do it with just the watch and no phone at all.

 

Does anyone know if this is possible? Or perhaps something similar.

Also does anyone know any good stores to buy it cheaper in australia? I'm not sure  JB HIFI do christmas sales.

 

Since it seems this needs a phone, Then does anyone know a Cheap and compatible phone for it? preferably Not Apple.

You'll need a phone to set it up, I'm afraid.  It's just that this lets you leave your phone at home if you're only interested in the functions on the watch (which can include taking calls).  At least here in North America, you typically have to get a base phone plan and attach a data add-on plan for the watch.

 

There are watches that are wholly independent, but right now they're kludges that are basically Android phones on your wrist... complete with the bulk and interface problems you'd expect.  Avoid them at all costs.
