So i have a I3 8350k , is it worth for me to upgrade to the Ryzen 2700x? i would need to buy a b450 MB though.
I checked CPU userbenchmark and the results, is a 1% loss in effective speed.
Gaming is 1% loss, desktop is 4% loss, but workstation is a 38% gain.

While i'm gaming i'm typically on Discord + Youtube/watching some type of TV like Hulu & on skype. Does that mean i need to prioritize more cores aka Ryzen 2700x?

My friends told me if i was lazy just to get the I5 9600k since it's basically the Ryzen 2700x + mobo price from microcenter [$130+ 54.99]

Don't trust Cpu userbenchmark

2700x over i3 8350k all day but 3600 destroy both in gaming. Only 2700x better than 3600 is multi core productivity software. 3600 if you only gaming and 2700x if you are budget productivity.

But you can upgrade to i7 on your LGA 1151 motherboard

Thanks, but can i trust https://www.cpubenchmark.net/ also why the 2700x over i3 8350k?

Userbenchmark is awful for CPU comparisons, as it favours signoe threaded performance to a much greater degree over multi threaded performance, skewing the results.

That being said, the 3600 will destroy the i3 in most cases.

8 core and 16 thread. New games use multi core so 4 core and 4 thread on your i3 is not enough. 8 core and 16 thread come handy in productivity too. If you are gaming only than go with 3600 which has higher clock.

Looks trustworthy, and the 2700X is much better than the i3, as it has double the cores (4 times more logical processors).

However, for gaming the 3600 is probably better value.

Also i was told i need an aftermarket cooler? otherwise it's loud?

It's not so bad.

Also get the 2700 non x to save money.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 10 and Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

How many watts do I needATX 3.0 & PCIe 5.0 spec, PSU misconceptions, protections explainedgroup reg is bad

they're both 129.99 on microcenter non x and x rip

Then in that case 2700X with stock cooler works fine. You can adjust the fan curve if you want.

Although be aware, if you're getting decent performance with your i3 already you'll be a bit disappointed from the upgrade.

There's also the i5 9400F, some not terrible value from the Intel side, although that's a pretty good deal for the 2700X

Only able to run 3900x at 1.3v  and not strong compare to those motherboards I listed above.

I see , but i typically change my CPU every 3-5 years lol

Do you think they're going to change the AM4 socket for Ryzen 4000 series?

Rumors say it might be on AM5 but Lisa Su(CEO @ AMD) announced Ryzen 4000 series will be on AM4.

like overclocking the chips is a good idea to begin with.

Rumours that Ryzen 4000 might be on AM5 instead AM4 because AM4 support end in 2020.

2020 is still within the holiday launch of CPUs next year (assuming there is a late launch, thats when it happens). also is this "rumours" or is this "speculation" ? often gets mixed up at times.

and looking at the sqedualling of ddr5 and Pcie 5.0  (not to mention the pain that 4.0 allready is). i suspect we will see a final AM4 CPU comming out next year. tho that is pure speculation on my part.
