Hi there,

Recently my PC has started becoming sluggish and I'm wanting to upgrade. I currently have an i5 6600k,Gigabyte Z170-HD3, Corsair Vengence DDR4-3200MHz and Gigabyte GTX 1060 G1 Gaming 6GB (GV-N1060G1 GAMING-6GD). I plan on keeping the GPU and RAM for the time being and upgrading it in the future. I'm currently unable to watch a stream and play a game at the same time without my CPU maxing out which is something I like to have on in the background.

I'm looking at the i7 9700k (BX80684I79700K) and Gigabyte AORUS Z390 GAMING X (GA-Z390-GAMING-X). Are these going to be a significant upgrade to my previous system?

Any feedback or opinions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

I would be BUT I have something faster and cheaper at the same time

you describe problems with multithreading, so why not get a Ryzen5 3600?

Faster for what you're doing + cheaper!

Also wich GPU?

I have the Gigabyte GTX 1060 G1 Gaming 6GB (GV-N1060G1 GAMING-6GD). I was looking at Ryzen too however the store which I get my components from has them listed for a higher price for some reason. Also have very limited options in my current location.

I actually made an error and was looking at old prices. I have attached both the Intel and AMD list of CPU's available to me together with this message. I dont mind paying extra if it means I will have better performance for a longer duration of time.

From looking at benchmarks online it looks as though the Ryzen 7 3700x is quite a bit better than the i7 9700k in most aspects.

It is! But the 2700 is hellacheap!
