High End VA monitor vs Mid range/budget IPS for Design and side gaming

What monitor type would be better for Design(Photoshop ,premiere , illustrator) and gaming on the side: high end VA or will a budget-mid range IPS one will be better?
would love some recommendations if you have

As for the monitor.

A top end VA can be as good as IPS in regards to color coverage and accuracy once calibrated. However its easier to find IPS panels that do that.

 

BUT with IPS u have to deal with IPS glow and uniformity issues as they are inherently less uniform than VA.

 

IMO a top fo the VA is a good bet. BUT, and its a big BUT. For gaming, dont expect to find a high color coverage VA panel that is fast enough to avoid ghosting/blurr for gaming. You have to choose 1 or the other.

 

it'll depend on the DCI-p3 and rec 2020 color coverage you want.

below is a link to a filter of rtings reviews. it should show 80%+ dci-p3 and 60%+ rec 2020, arranged by pixel response time, with frequency, black uniformity and panel type.

The Philips Momentum listed there is good in the results BUT as its a TV panel it has issues with crosshatching when used for PC use. This is caused by the BGR subpixel layout. As such i would not recommend getting it.

 

The Acer predator X27 is probably ur best bet. (IPS panel)

Its far from cheap however at over $/£1500

 

The Dell S32220DGF is another option that may be good enough for u. ( VA Panel)

Nah, you will be fine with a VA monitor for gaming too. Heck, I got the BenQ 2280 VA monitor for €99 and use it for allround, even for gaming

 

IPS sucks big time in terms of uniformity and IPS glow. I'm done dealing with that shit. And VA has much better blacks too which it's very important to me and I also use my pc at night and enjoy the dark scenes in games and movies.
