Is that an FX 6300 CPU?

That's weak. I wouldn't recommend going above an GTX 1050 4GB / Radeon RX 560 4GB with it.

Cheapest RX 570 you can find is likely the best choice. The system will start scaling back with GPUs around the Vega 56/1070 range.

Oh, and likely a 256 Gb SSD (with DRAM Cache) for your Boot drive.

The x3000 products scale a little better than that. They'll do 60 FPS in pretty much anything, as long as there's enough GPU. V56/1070 is a waste, however. He also likely needs a SSD boot drive.

I linked two SSDs. One at 240 Gb the other at 480 Gb. That's the cheapest 570, though you can probably find good eBay ones for a little cheaper. There's some other SSD options, but I need to check my notes on which have DRAM. (Companies have been updating models lately.)

The RX 570 would probably need his power supply to be replaced. It's probably a weak unit since it's nowhere mentioned on the specs.

And also, the CPU would bottleneck it quite bad, even an FX 8350 would. I know since I had an FX 8300 at 4.4 paired with R9 380X that's just a tiny bit weaker than an  RX 570.

The Excavator cores aren't great, but the system will keep scaling with GPUs quite a lot further than you think. Though there's a few games (mostly some that really hammer a single thread with high I/O swapping) that are just hard CPU limited. I don't think that'll be an issue here.

@jit as long as your power supply has a PCIe power cable (the 6 or 8 pin one), you'll be fine with any of the ~150USD GPUs. But adding a boot SSD will also be a very large performance increase.

Dont listen to the ones saying to get a 1050ti for like 160$. With that kind of money you can get something like a used rx 580 or something better. OR you could get something cheaper like a 780ti, which still is an amazing card, and spend some of the money you save on a cpu upgrade. Even tho a new gpu probably wont be used to 100%, its still not very smart to spend 160$ on a 1050ti, just cause its a such bad value. Your decision to save, or buy a new/cheaper gpu.

You could, but i would go for a 8gb version. I dont think there is a huge price gap between them. I would also go for Sapphire as they got better cooling and they are overall better.
