I built a new pc and took the GPU (RX 580) out of my main rig to put in it. The PC will turn on and post without the GPU but not with the GPU plugged into the PCI-E slot. Thought it might be a PSU problem so I switched out PSU's and no dice. So I thought I would rule out a possible mobo problem, so I installed it on my son's computer. Same issue, no power. I even tried both PSU's on both motherboards. No dice. My son's pc would boot normally without the GPU. So I ended up installing it onto my main rig again and it boots up functions as its supposed to. I also tried resetting the CMO's battery. I'm at my wits end and cant figure this out. Any suggestions? Each PC has a PSU of over 700w. I have double checked all power cables and reseated the GPU a dozen times. Tomorrow I'm going to try another GPU. I'm out of ideas

I had this issue with mutliple RX590s recently, sorry to say but

Hes dead jim

I'm not sure what the cause is, but currently there is a large batch, from different AIBs none the less (Asus, PowerColor, Sapphire etc), of DOA RX580s and RX590s, after my second return the guys at MicroCenter started talking about it, even pointed out other ones in their pile of stuff to be RMA'd.  I can say i like the cards performance for $, but its a bit of inconvenience at the very least.

I had one DOA, one die after 1.5 days during a Forest Benchmark, 3rd one DOA, and im on my 4th finally which seems to actually be a keeper.  I was near the point i was about to use warranty on the board and cpu for no reason.  Thank god i live anywhere near a MicroCenter

You probably won't have it as rough as i did, but pointing this out incase you Return/RMA it and it happens again.

Well that's some piss poor QC and shit yields if this is anything to go by. ? I too, am a big fan of MC and fortunate to have one an hour away. Sorry OP.

My working theory is since RX580/590 is at end of life the piles of previous RMA'd stuff that sometimes, occasionally works at the factory but doesn't work in the most real world is getting put back on the shelf, but that is completely a theory, i really have no idea.

Again no actual idea, but wondering if its different but similar to what happened with these.

Likewise since i've been through a few variants, i'd advise against a ASUS DUAL OC RX580, or whatever its called, loudest thing in the world (sounds like a vacuum cleaner), not reliable either. I like the basic PowerColor cards better noise wise.

But its not dead. I can put it in my main rig and it boots up and is fully functional.

Oh shoot missed that. I can't help you but point out i've been through a bunch of these cards which simply will not boot, happy you got it working on the one rig

I see, have you tried a different PCIe slot on the board? Have you tried flashing your boards BIOS to the newest rev.?

It's a mITX board, theres only one PCI-E slot. Cant flash anything if it doesn't power up.

You can if you have another GPU or iGPU. If it doesn't boot you may just have a faulty board. Bad luck, but it happens.

Going to try a new GPU tomorrow. As I stated in the original post, I put it on 2 different mobos with 2 different PSU's. With my main rig being the 3rd mobo which is where it worked.

Understood, but you haven't gotten this mITX board to work properly at all yet. Correct? Have you seen a post screen using a different GPU? In other words it sounds like you're trouble shooting two different issues.

Well it gets further when the GPU isn't plugged in. Fans turn on and the mobo lights up. Not sure how far it get since I can't see anything lol. Where as when the GPU is plugged in it doesn't do anything. I can hear an audible "click" like sound from the PSU but thats it.

Could be the PCIe power delivery of the motherboard causing it. Try another GPU in the board.
