Current best/better low profile slot powered cards?

$/fps/watt is there anything better than a 1050ti 4GB? They seem a little pricey but low profile cards usually are due to low supply and higher demand.

I'm tossing together a replacement PC for my father to ship to him so I need to send it assembled and bootable. I have a HP SFF PC that's basically together except a SSD and graphics card, he keeps PC's for a very very long time so I'm trying to somewhat future proof him here with Windows 10, a Haswell, SSD, and a graphics card. Nothing he does now is demanding at all but as the PC becomes lower and lower spec due to it's age I'd like it to be able to still perform decently. He's complaining that his Core2Duo system (I forget the CPU, now has 2GB of RAM after someone 'fixed it', some HDD, GT 730 GPU) I build about 10 or 12 years ago is getting slow, if that's any indication. I'm looking at around a $100-$120 budget for the graphics card and a budget SSD with DRAM cache I'll use something from ADATA that'll be good enough with some reserve partitioned aside for wear leveling.

It needs to be slot powered as it's going in a PC without PCIe power connectors, it needs to be decent now a days so it's not awful in 5 years, and it needs to fit my price range. I looked at the 1050ti 4GB LP from MSI and that looks like a winner. I scanned through AMD offerings but the RX550 is substantially lower performing than the 1050ti from what I could Google, the RX570 is too power hungry, anything pre-Polaris has not aged well at all compared to Nvidia offerings.

What is he doing with the system? A GT1030 might be your best bet.

General old man computer stuff? I think he uses a lot of mapping programs, Google Earth, etc and some can be semi-demanding when it comes to rendering 3D terrain and I expect things to only become more demanding in the next decade he'll probably be using it for, trying to kind of future proof it a bit which I realize means I should install 16GB of RAM which I may yet do. Seriously, he keeps PC's for a long time. I had to use a K6-2 when the Northwood Pentium 4 was out.

Its over the budget, but other than the 1050 Ti theres nothing better in performance

Isn't that like double the budget tho?

Is the motherboard standard mATX or ATX, with the standard 24 pin connector, or some custom job?

If it's standard 24pin you could get a cheap case and a power supply... both will be around 50$ in total. Transplant everything in the case and then you could buy a used a RX 570 for 80-100$

ex.

20$  TOPOWER TP-2001BB MID TOWER ATX BLACK COMPUTER CASE - Newegg.com

45$ Seasonic S12III 450 SSR-450GB3 450W 80+ Bronze, ATX12V & EPS12V, Direct Output, Smart & Silent Fan Control, 5 yr Warranty Power Supply - Newegg.com

or amazon : Amazon.com: Seasonic S12III 450 SSR-450GB3 450W 80+ Bronze ATX12V & EPS12V Direct Cable Wire Output Smart & Silent Fan Control 5 Year Warranty Power Supply: Computers & Accessories

example of RX 570 for 80$ : https://www.ebay.com/itm/XFX-AMD-Radeon-RX-470-RS-Triple-X-4GB-True-OC-Graphics-Card-RX470-Orig-Box-570/323974297540

I'm recycling a SFF HP system I have for this, a Prodesk so there's nothing standard in there except half height slots and PCIe slots lol. It works fine and doesn't take up a lot of space and weight to ship AND can be shipped safely assembled completely.

GTX 1650 Low profile

I found a 1650 low profile for $160, low profile 1050ti's are going for $140-150 so that seems like a no brainer. Thank you for the eye-opener, I thought they were all in the $200+ range.

Also confirmed his PC specs. E5700 Core2 Pentium with 2GB DDR2 so going to a i5 4590S with 16GB RAM and a GTX 1650 will be a HUGE upgrade for him!
