Is it safe to transfer an entire game?

So the HDD I have been storing games on is starting to make weird noises and I found out it's a very slow HDD so I want to buy a SSD. But is it safe to transfer entire games (like gta v) onto the SSD? Or do I have to reinstall them?

It is safe to transfer games from your hdd to ssd. You have to go back to Steam to setup your new ssd drive so Steam can recognize you already had GTA 5 install.

Steam and Origin at least (GOG too) are very easy with moving games. You can move single, or whole library. Steam has even built-in function for it now. You create new game directory through platform and then move game folders there. If there's issue, verify install so it checks all the files are present.
