I have used Ubuntu after switching from windows for about 3 months and i have grown bored of the regular gnome interface, i'm wanting a different change of pace for the desktop environment, I've tried KDE and other things such as the extension dash to dock but they haven't helped meet my expectations, what i am looking for is:

A relatively fast environment that i can run many programs on at once with 4 GB ram and a dual core processor and it also needs to look nice visually

Xfce

It's not beautiful, but it's ok and it's very low demand and should suit that hardware fine.

Solve your own audio issues  |  First Steps with RPi 3  |  Humidity & Condensation  |  Sleep & Hibernation  |  Overclocking RAM  |  Making Backups  |  Displays  |  4K / 8K / 16K / etc.  |  Do I need 80+ Platinum?

If you can read this you're using the wrong theme.  You can change it at the bottom.

Gnome and KDE fits the looks nice requirement, KDE fits best for the ram requirement, and Gnome fits best the cpu requirement. XFCE is the best for both low ram and cpu. Budgie gives a familliar feel.

Honestly, up to you. Just remember to install themes and reconfigure the desktop to your liking.
