144Hz rate and graphics card upgrade versus price

Hi, I would like to ask if paying up to 200$ for upgrading from a 1660ti to 2060 and from 60Hz to 144Hz in detriment of screen quality in a laptop is worth the change. 

Asus rog - 1660ti + 60Hz (better screen quality)

Lenovo Y545 - 2060 + 144Hz (worse screen quality)

Honestly I would say 144hz is nice, but it’s not like a must have. I regularly switch between my 144hz monitor and my 60hz tv and enjoy playing games on both. If you’re into stuff that requires really quick and precise reactions then I would say 144hz. Otherwise you’ll be fine with 60hz. 
 

Also you can always grab an external 144hz monitor to Hook the laptop up to at home.

And what about the upgrade from a 1660ti to a 2060? Would you consider it worth?

They are laptop variants so I can't really answer that for you. I recommend watching youtube reviews and using websites like ultrabookreviews to get a better idea of how they compare. 

 

The problem with laptop GPU's is their performance is largely dependent on how many wats they are allowed to run at. For example, some laptops with 2070s pretty much match laptops with 2080s. You can't really tell until you look at reviews because most companies don't advertise this. The 2060 apparently is run at 80-90 watts, and some companies might exceed this if their cooling solution allows for it.

If you were asking about RTX, its fun to play with but I never use it on my 2070 super.
