Does CPU power matter that much if you are using a G-sync monitor?

So I have a Ryzen 5 2600 and a RTX 2070 super build and yes I know that the Ryzen 5 2600 bottlenecks the RTX 2070 A LOT so that is making me want to change my CPU to the ryzen 5 3600. However, would it be best to invest in a 1440p g-sync monitor instead of buying the Ryzen 5 3600 to replace my Ryzen 5 2600? I only built the pc purely for gaming and light editing. Please help me out since I am completely confused on what to purchase.

Where's it bottlenecking, which games? 1080p?

 

I'm asking because I haven't experienced such issues with my R5 1600X and the RX 5700XT, but I'm running 1440p (got the monitor and the GPU at the same time).

The cpu usage on witcher 3 at 1080p is at 30%-70% and the GPU is only going at 89%.

 

CPU usage on Battlefield 4 is at 30%-80% and gpu is only going at 92%-95%

No it doesn't?

That CPU is fine for ~100fps in the average AAA game a 9th gen intel CPU is at ~120-130fps, ryzen 3000 maybe 110-120fps with fast memory

 

You should just buy a 1440p 100-120hz ultra wide they're around $400

My friend, you are ready for a 1440p Freesync screen. The R5 3600 wouldn't improve a thing in those games mentioned on 1080p with that GPU.

cpu-gpu usage varied between games.

That seems normal to me...
If your CPU was bottlenecking it then you would be stuck at >80% CPU usage the entire time and your GPU usage would be low (while it's waiting for the CPU to catch up).

Battlefield and Witcher 3 are quite intensive games regardless, both on CPU and GPU.

What is your budget/country for a new display?

 

You should just buy a free-sync display as nvidia supports it now and it'll be cheaper

I’d stay on 1080 for more frames. I wouldn’t be too focused on gsync as I disable it now but you may like it on games that aren’t FPS.
