I am playing on getting a eGPU for work. I use a MBP and need more rendering power and occasionally my wife games on the system. In my main  windows system I am running a Radeon VII, wich is perfect for my gaming stuf and F@H/BOINC.

I thought about getting a RX 5700XT for my eGPU, since it would do everything as well as the VII and be like 50% cheaper. BUT I have heard it is not compatible with F@H (yet?). Does anyone have experience how it behaves with BOINC?

Thanks!

I looked around a bit on some other BOINC forums.

Seems it runs on some projects but others get errors with the card.

Some links from others trying to run the cards:

Seems the issue is with OpenCL in the driver.

KK thank you. The issue with OpenCL is also what causes the problems on the F@H side of things. But I guess I wont get a RDNA card then. There are some peeps wo report SETI@Home running ok on the 5700xt on MacOS, but nothing else. Thats a bit to risky for me :(
