Hi everyone!

My GTX 680 broke down recently after many years of use and I'm looking for a new one. I intend to spend between 200 and 250€ since I don't game very much anymore.

I found the Sapphire RX 590 for 200€ and the PNY GTX 1660 GB for 217€.

Should I get one of those or does it make sense to wait for the 5500 XT? I mostly game at 1080p for now but I tend to keep my cards as long as possible so maybe getting an older architecture such as the RX 590 isn't the best idea.

What would you recommend?

Thank you very much.

You'd get a better value out of the RX 580 so I think that's your best bet. As a 290x owner (very similar to the RX 580) I can confirm you'll be able to game at 1080p without issue.

5500XT's perfornance doesn't seem to pull away from the RX 590, it's just more likely to get new features and technology while drawing 50-60% the power.

You can game at 1080 with a 570. A 580 would probably give you the most bang for your buck AND last you a few years before needing to upgrade.

From what I'm seeing, that's referring to the 5500, not the XT. The XT should be about on par with the 1660 Super.

the RX 5500 was advertised to be 10% better than the RX 480, in other words matching the RX 580. I really doubt a less than 10% gain in compute units will make the XT better than the 590, unless AMD does the same thing as they did on the 590: much higher power and voltage. No way would it meet the 1660 Super, that's 5600 territory
