Hello, do you think base imac 2019 would be good enough for 4k video editing ? I am mainly photographer but I do plan to start also with video editing mainly wedding clips. I would start with video editing from the scratch so i dont mind using final cut pro (that should be optimized for mac).  I used pc with windows whole life and I would like to try mac for a change (even though I agree that imac is pretty overpriced as i could get i9 9900K pc for less). Base imac is i5 (3GHz, TB 4.1GHz), i would upgrade ram to 32GB and buy fast external ssd myself. Gpu: AMD Radeon Pro 570X 4GB. Thank you

The 3Ghz model is not the base model, it costs 1949$ CAD

The base model is 2.3Ghz, at 1399$ CAD

Either way, all these prices only include 8gb of ram and I would not suggest video editing on that, so you MUST upgrade to 16gb in order to have a machine that can function well with 4k.

That being said, the screens on these machines are beautiful and look great, but personally you could do A LOT better.

yeah, youre really not missing anything by switching to mac, theres a reason theyre not particularly prominent among the PC market... I know you want a mac but better off just making your own machine honestly just cause of the crazy pricing. Apple: slowly losing the market since Jobs died.

for 4K videos i think you can get by with 16GB, but 32GB would be recommended.
