Hi , I'm new here and desperately looking for some help.

Bought a new laptop few weeks back and I've been getting extreme stutters randomly (normally after about 1 and half hours of usage) in games.

By extreme stutters I mean game freezing for 3-10 , seconds runs fine for 4 seconds then freezing again. Unplayable in worst of scenarios.

I measured the temps and they are all under 80 Celsius both GPU and CPU. CPU , Memory , and GPU usage were all normal and wasn't under huge load.

Weird thing is when games start stuttering , when I close them , the entire system runs really slowly. So it's not just games.

Checking the resource monitor didn't help as there doesn't seem to any rogue apps hogging all the resources.

My laptop (Acer Nitro 5 2019) specs are as follows :

  • Windows 10 Home
  • Intel i5 9300H (undervolted)
  • 8 GB RAM
  • Nvidia GTX 1650
  • Toshiba 1TB HDD MQ04ABF100

The problem is (probably) in HDD. Get an SSD, that should help.

Purify your Windows 10/11, don't give Microsoft anything that you don't want to share.

I agree.  I would recommend a Samsung 970 EVO M.2 SSD.  And if you have a Motherboard that doesn't support M.2 drives, I would recommend a Samsung 860 EVO SATA SSD.

Go with an SX8200 Pro instead. I got the 970 Evo before I knew about that drive, the SX8200 Pro is actually slightly faster in most tests than the 970, while being $40 cheaper or so. Also the Crucial MX500 is a cheaper alternative for the 860 Evo, about the same performance. If you're not too worried about price then just get any of these though, they're all excellent drives.
