I am planning to buy this gaming laptop if my budgets allowed.

HP omen 15.6 inch with

  • 8GB ram
  • i5 9300H
  • 1660Ti
  • 521GB SSD

HOwever if my budget is becoming a bit more tighter, I would love to hear your advice about getting a non-gaming laptop.

My main usage is gonna be simple:

internet browsing, some office work, (maybe some light gaming)

What laptop do you guys suggest. I don't have a fixed budget, but it should not cost more than the HP omen.

I have some preference when it comes to this laptop:

  • room for upgradeability. (so that I can add in more RAM/SSD/HDD later and I can service the thing myself easily.)
  • light weight
  • have a "good enough" speed

Which model do you guys recommend?? Is ryzen laptops a good choice?? maybe thinkpad x395???

If it is not broken, let's fix till it is.

While I cannot tell you what to get, I will say this:

I wouldn't buy an HP product if you gave me the money to buy it with.

This comes from decades of professional experience.

Ditto Lenovo (thinkpad) laptops, mostly because of their sleazy business practices (superfish, etc)

NOTE: I no longer frequent this site. If you really need help, PM/DM me and my e.mail will alert me.

You posted being on a budget, but didn't list the actual budget amount. Can you please add that or an approximation?

if you need a laptop with less specs that costs less just look at any msi or asus laptop.

it's easy to downgrade them imo, it's just hard to find one with good specs that looks good, and is thin/slick.

when you say light gaming then anything with a mx150 should be more than enough.

but it's not specific, do you just want to play league of legends sometimes and maybe and indie game here and there. then you don't need a good graphics card.

or do you wanna play the new call of duty once a week and sometimes during the weekends play pubg then you need a more powerful gpu that can handle the games even though you won't play them a lot

Anything i've written between the * and * is not meant to be taken seriously.

keep in mind that helping with problems is hard if you aren't specific and detailed.

i'm also not a professional, (yet) so make sure to personally verify important information as i could be wrong.

For the budget laptop I would only play lol or maybe sc2. No AAA games.

as far as the budget goes my local retailer sell their x395 for 681 usd ( ryzen 7 pro one) so maybe my budget is around that ballmark
