Micro- I mean QuantumSoft : New Azure quantum service coming out in months.

Not so long after Google announcing their quantum supremacy, Microsoft has also joined the competition with a similar offering to google's (virtual) quantum cloud computing service along with a bunch of other new cloud services.

Microsoft today shared plans to release an open cloud quantum computing service in private preview. Microsoft open-sourced its Quantum Development Kit and Q# compilers and simulators for developers this summer. A partnership with the startup IonQ announced today will enable developers to use existing Microsoft products — like Visual Studio or the Quantum Development Kit — along with quantum computers. The news follows recent breakthroughs in quantum computing from IBM Research and Google, who announced on October 23 that it achieved quantum supremacy with the 54-qubit Sycamore processor.

Quantum computing is based on quantum physics. Quantum computers run on quantum bits or qubits, and when qubits are maintained in a cold state they can scale high-performance computation in a way that’s hard to achieve today with traditional supercomputers. IonQ uses an approach to quantum computing that focuses on trapping ions. “IonQ brings a unique approach to quantum computing, with tremendous potential,” Microsoft quantum systems general manager Krysta Svore said in a statement shared with VentureBeat. “This partnership brings world-class quantum computing capabilities to Azure Quantum, and we’re excited to continue working together to realize the full benefits of quantum computers. ompanies like Rigetti and D-Wave Systems, maker of quantum computers for Google and NASA, also offer quantum computing in the cloud. And IBM’s 53-qubit computer will be available in the cloud. Microsoft plans to launch Azure Quantum in the coming months, the company said in a news release today ahead of the start of its Ignite conference in Orlando, Florida. Also announced today: a meeting scheduler and voice email briefings from AI assistant Cortana and upgrades for Windows 10, Microsoft 365, and other Microsoft products and services.

This is what the new MS Flight Sim will be using for its real world data model. Pretty amazing stuff. I can't friggin wait for that to come out! I'm gonna be so poor after that!

i have no idea how Quantum computers work in the first place, but how the hell does cloud quantum computing work? Can a quantum computer be partitioned to run multiple simultaneous work loads?

The simplest way it was explained to me is that a normal computer can be in a state of either HI (1) or LO (0), where as a Quantum computer can be HI, LO, Both, or neither.

Spoiler

CPU: Intel i7 6850K

GPU: nVidia GTX 1080Ti (ZoTaC AMP! Extreme)

Case: RaidMax Delta I

PSU: ThermalTake DPS-G 750W 80+ Gold

Monitor: Samsung 32" UJ590 UHD

Keyboard: Corsair K70

Mouse: Corsair Scimitar

Audio: Logitech Z200 (desktop); Roland RH-300 (headphones)

Sounds like the state one can be in in a marriage.   He is either right, wrong, both and neither.  But her friends understand why he is wrong even though they can't explain it and all have a different version of events.

Personally I learnt all I need to know about quantum physics by trying to understand females (and watching star trek, but mostly the females).

Grammar and spelling is not indicative of intelligence/knowledge.  Not having the same opinion does not always mean lack of understanding.

Remote connection to a regular PC that is connected to a quantum processor I bet.
