Gigabyte Aorus X570 Pro WiFi not booting with certain PCIe cards

Having a curious problem: after rebuilding my system with a X570, the system will not boot if I've got either the Xonar Essence or the Rosewill USB 2.0 hub installed, however it does boot with a USB 3.0 PCIe hub installed. Basically it gets stuck on the VGA stage of the boot up. 

 

I've got a 7 port Orico USB 3.0 hub that just arrived this morning and will try adding that one to the mix to see what it does. My guess is it will work fine, but we shall see. 

 

I've also got a Gigabyte GTX 1080 Ti Founders Edition in the 16x slot. That's a PCIe 3.0 card. I'm running on the 1.0.0.4 Released Bios, and the AMD X570 chipset driver version 1.9.27.1033.

 

It sort of looks it does not handle mixing newer PCIe cards with older ones. I can keep going without the sound card and that USB 2.0 hub, but I do want to understand what could be going on here and figure out how to fix it.
