Hey does anyone have any experience or know how regarding vrr (free sync or g sync) with gtx 1080 and Samsung qled tv. I know I need a display port but the tv’s breakout box only has HDMI. Would a active adapter display port 1.2 to HDMI 2.0 work and if you have used one successfully point me as to which one you used. Much appreciated

nvidia released new drivers recently and it has support for HDMI 2.1 VRR, however they state it works only on LG OLED (2019), no info so far on support on Samsung QLED but I think it up to Samsung to release new firmware update. I have both Q9FN and Gtx 1080ti. I might test it soon however i doubt it will work unless Samsung updates its firmware.

here is a link to nvidia's article and it states

"If you don’t own a LG TV, but do own a display or TV that only supports Variable Refresh Rates via HDMI, you can try enabling HDMI VRR by installing the new Game Ready Driver, and enabling G-SYNC as detailed above. As these displays and TVs have yet to through our comprehensive validation process, we can’t guarantee VRR will work, or work without issue." It also states:

3. Connect your TV via HDMI to your GeForce RTX or GeForce GTX 16-Series GPU or laptop (no luck for gtx 10-series yet)

I’ve installed latest nvidia driver 441.12 and connected my freesync monitor with hdmi 2.0 cable, unfortunately it does not work. I think it will not work with samsung qled either. You probably need an rtx card to activate vrr over hdmi.

hey nvidia got to sell their latest and greatest rtx cards!

I have samsung q9fn in my living room, if freesync does not work on hdmi on 1080ti and my freesync monitor it will not work on qled, looks like it is rtx only feature, unfortunately I do not have an rtx card it is a bit pointless to have one if i have a 1080ti

Hello guys, does anyone have success using a 2019 Samsung Qled (es. Q60r) with RTX 2080ti using HDMI and setting up G-Sync ?

I found a Q60r in offer and i'like to buy it for gaming. I own an RTX 2080ti

I found this on youtube

looks like samsung qled with vrr is compatible with g-sync on rtx cards

Unfortunately, this is not the case. Yes, the settings are enabled, but GSYNC doesn't actually work. (Tested on my Q90R)

Don't trust this guy. He doesn't test his items and he doesn't know what he's talking about.

Thanks))) this means that I do not have to upgrade my 1080ti for at least a couple of years)))
