Hi,

When upgrading to a different motherboard, do I need to reinstall windows/OS?

I'm finally upgrading my AM3+ motherboard to a motherboard with AM4 socket. My PC is a prebuilt gaming PC from bestbuy and this will be my first "PC build".

Also, any suggestion or things to keep an eye out for is much appreciated.

Thanks.

Need: no. Should: yes

If you don't and windows doesn't properly swap out drivers you can face some pretty funky problems.

Seeing as you're changing a fair bit I definer would.

I agree with Slottr, think of it as an opportunity to clean up your windows instal. Make sure you back up your data (obviously), if windows is installed on a hard drive this is a good time to switch to an SSD, and after you reinstall windows make sure you get the microcode and other drivers from your new motherboard vendor's website.
