Jump to content

1. Check your room temperature

2. Check the airflow in your case

3. Check that the fan on the GPU is spinning as it should

4. Check dust buildup inside your GPU and in your case

 

If all those are good, your GPU is probably flawed. You can try disassembling the GPU and reapplying thermal paste but it might not fix the issue if all other points are already good.

Its more than likely its also a couple years old now...or more,..since being put together.

Besides the above posts main points..

Change thermal paste is a good idea

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz

they are all good, i think i should just buy a new cooler and be done with it, what do you recommend? air or liquid? and which brand should i get?

If its not under warraty

 

1- clean dust and repaste 

2-get more rpm on the case fans.

3-if nothing of this works limit you fps to 60 or 75.

 

Puting a waterblock or another cooler on it is a waste of money, just sell it and get a better one, Its an old card today.

Is the fan actually spinning up?

prolly needs new tim.

 

Mine never ran that hot but I’m not in a hot room when I use them so I can see low 80’s being the norm.

OP, clean the card and change the paste. by now it will likely be hardened - from my own testing i'd reccomend replacing it with kryonaut
