As title states. Is this motherboard overkill? Should I downgrade it for a better CPU, or keep it as is?
Please note, I do not need any storage (transferring from old PC). I do not need windows. Price range is ~$1700 USD hopefully to be brought down with Cyber Monday.

You can downgrade the PSU to a 650w model and get rid of the extra fan, that is not necessary.

And yes, motherboard is overkill. There's cheaper options out there that would allow for a better CPU instead.

IMHO the CPU cooler is also crazy overpriced.

The psu is appropriate and having an addition fan to fill out the case for 10$ is not a make or break. If I were to upgrade cpu, the noctua cooler may be more appropriate.

I'm just looking at the cpu and motherboard for now. Do you have a mobo recommendation? How much does it save? What cpu would I be able to upgrade to for that savings?

In pure gaming the 9700k is the best, if you also do editing etc then the 9900k or 3900x3700x will be better.

Also 750w is way overkill, the G3 is not a good unit you should get the G2 or another brand (rmx, txm, whisper m, masterwatt gold, pure 10/11 etc).

Also yes a better CPU will have a greater impact than a top of the line motherboard.
