Hey guys, I bought a PG279Q back in July, and I had always thought that the monitor felt off. Even after calibrating it, it was still uncomfortable to use. It felt like somebody was pointing a flashlight into my eyes, even when the monitor was calibrated and set to the correct brightness, which is around 25 for a normally lit room. Recently I found out about the bad backlight bleed issues that these 1440p panels have and decided to see if mine was suffering from that issue. I took a picture of it in the dark with the brightness set to 26, which is the recommended setting, and tried to eliminate any light that could mess anything up. Do you think that this monitor has enough backlight-bleed to RMA the monitor or sell it and get a new one?BacklightBleed.thumb.jpg.afbe43a19ebabba4f322ae7920b4e4d6.jpg

RMA would be preferred, but you can also just loosen the screws holding the panel in place slightly and that might fix the issue.

I edit my posts a lot, Twitter is @LordStreetguru just don't ask PC questions there mostly...

Spoiler

What is your budget/country for your new PC?

what monitor resolution/refresh rate?

What games or other software do you need to run?

Holy shit that's bad! RMA if you can. And then sell it, get another with a better panel.

Known issue with this monitor.

You can try the lottery again, but accept you may get something very similar.

Its always best practice to check reviews before purchasing a monitor due to these very reasons..among others.

FYI, since its an IPS panel, its likely some of what ur seeing is caused by IPS glow. Change the angle u view the screen at in any direction, if the amount of uniformity issues changes, those particular parts will be down to IPS glow, those areas that dont change will be BLB.
