Philips SHP9500 vs a gaming headset for gaming?

8 minutes ago, moking01 said:

I have a budget of about $100 and i have a cloud stinger but looking for an upgrade.

Should i get the SHP9500 + Vmoda boom pro mic or get something like a Cloud 2 or G635?

Any alternatives/recommendations for other pairs than the SHP9500?

Dunno how the audio quality compares, but if you just want convenience I would get an open box pair of the Arctis 7 wireless

I'm never going back to wired headphones again if I can help it.

I edit my posts a lot, Twitter is @LordStreetguru just don't ask PC questions there mostly...

Spoiler

What is your budget/country for your new PC?

what monitor resolution/refresh rate?

What games or other software do you need to run?

Wireless is not a buying point for me tbh. If im getting off my gaming session i wont be having the headset on anyway and i only use it while im gaming or working so the whole thing for me is a "plus". If its not there i wont complain

From what i heard that any mid range actual headphone like the one i posted cn easily beat most closed back gaming headsets in terms of audio quality thats why im asking

would the shps beat an arctis 7 for a similar price?

For gaming? I would say yes the cooler masters beat the arctis too IMO. If you want something better I would go for the Sennheiser pc37 for a $100 for me this is the best deal right now for gamingy headset for a $100 https://drop.com/buy/massdrop-x-sennheiser-pc37x-gaming-headset?utm_source=linkshare&referer=8RGECC

SHP9500  will have better sound stage and better accurate sound. The mic is better than almost and headset you can buy nowadays. You can see the reviews on youtube of this mic and also check out the modmic 5 which is even better. but keep in mind best sound you will get through dac/ amp combo as these headphones are 32 ohm which will work with out an amp but you wont get the best out of it.

my recommendation :

-Philips SHP9500

The fiio k3 wouldn't work with a boom pro. As the fiio k3 can't really use the mic input much better to use something like a schiit hel. But these headphones should be fine out of a modern motherboard. You really won't get that much of a benefit running them off a dac amp. Unless your on board is actually trash
