Stretch CSGO 4:3 to 21:9 (but 16:9 with black bars)

I want to play CSGO with a resolution I'm used to which is a 16:9 display but using 4:3 stretched (like what many pros do). But I have 21:9 monitor is it possible to get the same 4:3 stretched to 16:9 and then have black bars on my 21:9 monitor?

This image might help the explanation.

You could just play 16:9 stretched to 21:9, and you'll get the same effect, except those black areas will be filled with game images so you can see more on the sides.

I thought about that but I think playing on full 21:9 is just too wide for me

I would give it a try either 16:10 resolutions: 1920×1200p and 2560×1600p all stretched.... waaay back when I used to play a lot of CS:GO I had 1680x1050p on a 2560x1080p ultrawide stretched and it was divine to play.

Hello,

I know the thread is a bit old, but here is the solution: on Nvidia control panel  under Display >>> Adjust desktop size and position, go to de "Size" tab and check "Enable Desktop Resizing" and resize it to 1920x1080p. Once you resize the desktop go over to the scaling tab and select the resolution you want making sure have "Perform Scaling" set to GPU and "Scaling mode" to full-screen (for stretched within CSGO).

Hope I could still help.
