Cannot boot after a new motherboard replacement

Hi guys,

 

So recently my main motherboard has gone dead after trying to update the bios.

so long story short - went on ali express, bought a refurb from someone who had good feedbacks.

Motherboard had arrived, i've assembled everything, it worked... and died after less than 16 hours.

shutted down and now when i'm trying to power on it goes on and straight shuts down without even the fan spinning.

i've tried reseating the cooling, reseating the cpu, switching ram cards, trying with only one card, made sure everything is connected ok.

still - it shuts down after less than a second. I've tested the PSU with paperclip - it works. Tried even removing the GPU and and it still wouldn't come up.

thing is - i have the led on the motherboard turns on when i'm connecting a power cable.

 

the motherboard is ASUS Z87-K. any advices? i think basically i've tried everything and the motherboard is just dead.

You can return the board for a replacement. Try reinstalling Windows or using a different HDD. Also, have you tried fixing you old board.

no actually i haven't tried that yet. because i'm having a hard time finding a store that replaces bios chips in my area.

The f****ng seller wouldn't take the mobo back because he's saying "ThIs iS 100% tEsTeD BefOrE SHiPPiNg"..

Probably low quality refurbished.

no unfortunately i haven't paid via PP. i've did opened a case to aliexpress customer care.

hoping they would do the justice. i've just tested now and it wouldn't even spin the fans.

 

i think the motherboard is fried.

Buy another board off AliExpress.

You can eisily solder a new BIOS chip yourself. £5 soldering iron and £5 BIOS chip. Dont waste a Mobo just because of a faulty BIOS chip. Laptop broad repair stores will be able to do it aswell.
