Intel or AMD motherboard for egpu?

Hi,

 

while the Mac egpu solutions look pretty straightforward, everything looks very difficult in the Windows world.

 

Anyone here had a successful experience building an Intel or AMD PC with a egpu?

If so, what motherboard did you use or would you recommend?

 

so far, the only reliable info I’ve found was about a Gigabyte motherboard with X99 chipset.

 I’d prefer a more common chipset.
