I currently have a computer with a core i3-8100 and a gtx 1050 ti and I am planning to upgrade to a 2060 or 2060s but where I live the asus rog rtx 2060 advance 6gb costs $462.38 and $612.10 for a asus rog strix rtx 2060 super advanced 8gb. Is it worth the $150.00 more or not? I am planning to eventually upgrade my cpu to a i5-9400f or i5-9600k but that might only be next year.

What's your monitor resolution/refresh rate?

What's the price comparison to an RX 5700? As it's 2060 super / 2070 level at a lower price potentially.

I edit my posts a lot, Twitter is @LordStreetguru just don't ask PC questions there mostly...

What is your budget/country for your new PC?

What games or other software do you need to run?

Ignore premium models like the Strix = problem solved. You dont need 2.5" slot thick coolers nor 3 fans to cool a 160-200w GPU properly

These are the cheapest ones i could find. I am not too worried about power usage or slot thickness as well.

If you can only find Asus ROG stuff (not even their other models like the Dual or Phoenix) from that store/website, it's time to look elsewhere. It's a big flag that pricing will be bad (which I'm guessing here since you didnt mention the country you're in).

I have a  Dell SE2717H so it is only 1080 at 75hz. And the RX 5700 cost $552 so it is a possible choice.

Wait for Black Friday, pricing will be better.

Also, consider Ryzen as it wipes the floor with the i5.

Intel is only really a good choice for gaming in the high end right now.

The 5700 beats the 2060 by quite a bit and has way superior price to performance to the 2060S so if possible the 5700 but if the 2060S is cheaper then go with this one!

I was planning on waiting for Black Friday but it is not as large in South Africa sot he discounts are not always that good and they boost prices before to make it look like they are good deals. I am considering ryzen but are drivers still bad because i had some friends complain about them in the past.

...the CPU drivers?

Either of those GPUs are kind of overkill for a 1080 75hz display.

And your CPU is kind of a bottleneck for 100-144hz gaming.

I would maybe just wait a while until you can upgrade your GPU + Display all at once, you can use a 4k 60hz display just fine, unless you want high refresh rate gaming, then upgrade your CPU and Display at the same time, the 1050ti isn't the worst thing ever for 1080p medium settings.

Because if you get one of the $400-500 GPUs, you won't be able to really use most of it until you upgrade something else. Like it probably only takes 50-60% of that GPU to get high/ultra settings at 1080p 60fps.

I am planning to run Beamng.drive at high settings at around about 60 fps because currently with my 1050 ti it runs at 34 fps at medium settings and can drop to 20 fps with more than one vehicle although I noticed it was more cpu intensive so i was planning to upgrade both. I am relatively new to pc and building my own rig so if you any advice on what might be better to upgrade first that would help a lot.

Dude in this case just upgrade both if your budget allows it, but the new GPU will be able to crack those 60fps.

Cheers :)

Beamng.drive

That's more than likely just really hard to run due to being unoptimized, even a 6700K + 1080 isn't much higher than 60fps

should probably check their forums for benchmarks if that's your main focus.

I would probably focus on your CPU, because you can always drop GPU settings to 720p even, while you can't really do anything to make your i3 CPU "faster" it's always going to be stuck at whatever fps it maxes out at.

So maybe get an R5 2600 or R5 3600 first

with an MSI B450 Gaming or Tomahawk board with USB bios flashing for the 3000 series CPU. Since it needs an updated bios.

And for Ryzen you want 16GBs of 3200mhz CL16 or 3600mhz CL16 RAM(for 3000 series CPUs)
