Recommendations on next upgrade

Hey.

 

I was planing on upgrading my rig to get optimum performance for 1440p 144hz but i'm not quite sure on what the best option is. Right now I don't feel like my CPU can keep up with the lastest AAA games on the highest settings eventhough I have such a beafy GPU.  Hoping you guys could help and give your opinion.

My current build.

CPU: i5-4690K

RAM: 16GB DDR3

GPU: GTX 1080Ti

Storage: Plenty

PSU: 750watt

Yeah just the CPU is a little bit outdated, 1080ti is fine for 1440p. Annoying thing is switching form 4'th gen CPU's to newer ones, you'll need new motherboard and ram for a new one to work

Third gen Ryzen has really good value, something like a Ryzen 5 3600 is only between 200-300€ with a cooler, while something similar in performance from intel will be a bit more expensive. What budget did you have in mind? since if you're gonna be upgrading cpu you'll need a new motherboard and ram as well, gpu and psu you have are fine
