NO DISPLAY/NOT SHOWING IN DEVICE MANGER 1070TI

Hi guys here on the ltt forum, i have a gtx 1070 and i bought a 1070ti because i needed more gpu power for 3d rendering and i got a very good deal on it.

But when installing the gpu into my computer it wont output any display on any of the ports or even come up device manager, I have tried to uninstall and reinstall geforce experience and the specfic driver for the 1070 ti but neither have worked.

Would really appreciate some help on this, would mean the world,

thank you in advance - Mal

the gpu must output the bios in order to be working , no reason to load windows if the card doesn't even work in the bios. and no your dx is picking up the intel 128mb of vram and 8gb of shared ram.

reboot the machine with the onboard disabled then make sure your power connection for the card are in and make sure its in the correct pci-e slot

the computer isn't going to boot without a display device so either your monitor doesn't support whatever resolution is coming out of the gpu or the machine isn't actually booting

I can tell it boots to windows because of my led keyboard will flash off and on twice when i do boot into windows and i have tried 3 different displays on the gpu seperate and all at the same time and none gave me a output

well if a bios reset doesn't solve it then the card might just be doa which isnt impossible

Incorrect.  Windows can boot without a display device as long as the MB still posts.

only if the board is set to do that which isn't a default on most consumer boards like this , although he could be running a supermicro server for all i know

Consumer boards will auto fallback to the iGPU and continue to post.

so long as they support/are set to do that

No, thats the general default behavior when no GPU is detected.  H61, Z77, Z87, etc, etc, all exhibit this behavior.

With no GPU and the iGPU disabled, the system will still boot with the iGPU.

it's truly impressive that you own every single h61 z77 and z87 board to be able to confirm that

How about posting anything that will help the OP next

No, I just work on a fairly large number of systems over the last ~20 years, so I have been around a good majority of the boards.

The GPU not being detected by the BIOS/OS means the GPU is not making good contact in the slot due to oxidation of the contacts, the GPU firmware is corrupt, or there is some kind of physical damage to the card.
