Should i use Gsync with Vsync or not ?

So i have a 2080Ti and an Asus PG278QR and i was wondering if i should use Gsync with Vsync, some friends told me too do it and some told me not too... 

 

From what i understand, Gsync will basically work until my fps go above my Monitor refresh rate and vsync will take the lead after that. Should i just cap my FPS at 144 and use gsync without Vsync ? Or its not gonna work and i will get screen tearing on games that are easier to run ?

Just cap your fps to your monitor's refresh rate

Vsync just caps your FPS to what you set it to, so in your case 144Hz ie 144FPS. G-sync is adaptive refresh rate technology that matches your refresh rate your your current FPS with Nvidia GPU's.

It depends on your game. If you’re playing a game that you consistently get over your monitors refresh rate vsync is the way to go. If you’re getting below your monitor’s refresh rate then go with gsync. Some people hate on vsync because it increases the response time by a couple ms, but no one can honestly notice the difference. The biggest problem with vsync is if you have it turned on to 144hz, if you drop below 144hz you'll go to 77hz. This creates a stutter in the image.

Can't i just cap my frame at 144hz and juste use Gsync ?? Because TBH even with my 2080TI the game i will play might rarely go over 144hz.

 

I mean, if i cap my fps at 144, its never gonna go above 144 ? Or my graphic card will still give me tearing even if it says 144 fps on the screen ?

 

Finally, if i use Vsync and set it at 144hz will i ever be on Vsync ? Or i will always stay on Gsync ?

V-sync is enabled through you games typically. And G-sync is enabled through the Nvidia control panel. I recommend turning both features on.

This confused the crap out of me when I first got a G-Sync monitor. Luckily, I finally figured it out.

 

Enable G-Sync (Set up G-Sync section) AND V-Sync (Manage 3D Settings section) in the Nvidia Control Panel. In game, always turn off V-Sync and triple buffering. Everything should work smoothly.

I wouldn’t use either. I’d let the card work unless you aren’t getting high enough frames and playing a slow pace game that gsync would actually be viable.
