Intel’s first Xe graphics card is officially ‘alive’ and coming for AMD and Nvidia

Tech Radar

"The graphics card in question is known as DG1, which presumably stands for ‘development graphics’ and DG1 is essentially the first working prototype model... At any rate, what’s clear is that Intel wants this first discrete GPU out at some point next year"

I'm excited because I'll be buying a new GPU in 2020 and I'd love to see what this means for competition.

just like buying a new car, do not be the test bunny for the new product, Intel is doing this for a loss. Let them lose financially, we will see if they win in other measures but do not let these measures be your personal financial loss.

To say that Intel has no experience in consumer GPU is wrong, they have the iGpu for years.

Plus they have Raja Kadori which was an ATI / AMD top exec, he knows what's he's doing.

I am very unsure of how this will turn out. On the one hand you are right that they have been making igpus for a long time but on the other hand they have never made a successful large scale graphics card. Yeah they have Raja but it will be hard to make a graphics card without running into ip issues. Granted intel likely has some graphics related ip already which should help but it is still is an issue that they will have to figure out.

This is not Intels first attempt at a dGPU, but the other tries all either sucked or never saw market. With Raja free to work with a competitively unlimited budget I am sure great things will come to this.

Intel needs to win in: raw performance, raw value, or bang for buck. Last isn't going to happen as we will CERTAINLY be paying Intel's R&D for a gen 1 product, so Xe either needs to be cheap as hell or destroy nVidia and AMD in compute performance and gaming. I am banking on the latter.

Brands I wholeheartedly reccomend (though do have flawed products): Apple, Razer, Corsair, Asus, Gigabyte, bequiet!, Noctua, Fractal, GSkill (RAM only)
